April 2026 - Policing Amendment Bill Submission

EJP filed a submission opposing the Policing Amendment Bill. EJP found this Bill would grant expansive surveillance powers to police to record people in public.  The Bill furthermore provides virtually no oversight over how data would be used and collected.  This raises significant concerns around privacy, discrimination, and free speech rights.

EJP’s position is that social problems like crime are best solved by addressing root causes such as racism and poverty.
